Okay, so for any of you living in the Atlanta area still listneing to 99x, I suggest you switch to 105.3 the Buzz. I mean 99x is still my second preset in my car, and I turn it there every time 105.3 has a commercial, or plays Staind. But I think overall 105.3 tops 99x. Here's why:
~Despite having pretty much identical playlists, 105.3 plays less of the soft shit 99x tends to play, and more hardcore, good stuff.
~From what I can tell, the Buzz has less commercial time.
~The Buzz doesn't have a morning show- it's just music like always. Now obviously some people prefer morning shows, so it's no for everyone. But personally when I'm driving to school and it's 6:45 in the morning, I want music. Out of my three favorite stations (The Buzz, 96 Rock, and 99x- in that order), the Buzz is the only one that plays music in the morning. I love it. I don't need to listen to Fred Toucher act like an ass and think he's right about topics he obviously doesn't know shit about.
And just recently, 99x further displayed their lameness. As you may or may not know, since 105.3 the Buzz became what they are today (they were 96.7, and didn't come in very well in many parts of Atlanta) they have had billboards in the area with the phrase, "Atlanta Just Got Louder!" Now obviously they didn't have this copywritten, but when 99x chose to use this phrase to promote some Audioslave concert even though the Buzz had been using it for months as their slogan, it was nothing but lame. Stealing from your opponent just proves that you're number two. It's the same reason Pepsi always has Coca-Cola products in their commercials: Pepsi is second, and can never catch up.
Oh and one more thing: I was listening to the Buzz this morning on the way to the train station, and they had a promo with quite possibility the funniest dialogue. Ever. I dont' know where it came form or how it's relevant, but it's just fucking hilarious, and I wish I'd thought of it. This is how it went (though I'm sure it was funnier actually hearing it):
Guy #1: Hey, do you wanna blow pop?
Guy #2: Only if he shaves it first.
Brilliant. Purely and simply brilliant. I can never be this funny no matter how hard I try. It's like with Maddox (whose shirt I happened to wear today)- he's just better than me, and there's nothing I can do about it.
